Prerequisites:
AT 3200
An application of communicative procedures and skills necessary to convey messages by means of graphic presentation. Also covered are: publication design, poster design, selfidentity, and package design as communication and the relationship of graphic imagery to typography and layout design.
Course Objectives:
To introduce various forms of print media in the context of publication design self identity, and editorial layout. To develop positive work habits in image and layout development, execution and presentation; and to enhance students ability to apply design and layout skills to communication problems.
Attendance:
As in any structured studio teaching environment, attendance is essential to derive full benefit from lectures, demonstrations, discussions and assistance. Therefore, it will be the policy of this class to allow a maximum of four absences during the quarter. Any further absence will result in the lowering of your final grade by one letter per absence beyond four. Students arriving in class unprepared will be counted absent.
Deadlines:
A deadline will be set for each project. Failure to comply with the deadline will result in a grade of "F" on that project or portion of project. Personal absences do not constitute an excuse for missing a deadline.
Grading:
Each assignment will be graded individually after a general class critique. Projects will be returned with a brief explanation of the grade. Your final grade will be an average of individual grades plus consideration for attendance, professional attitude, presentation, and craft.

A = 4.0 A- = 3.7 B+ = 3.3 B = 3.0 B- = 2.7 C+ = 2.3 C = 2.0 C- = 1.7 D+ = 1.3 D = 1.0 D- = .7 F = 0.0 Final Portfolio:
All projects completed in this class will be presented in a final portfolio on the last day of class for review.
